OUR SERVICE PROJECTS

LAP members donate to several charities throughout the mid-Michigan area. We donate non-perishable food items and other household products for Haven House. More than 300 quilts are made and donated annually to the R.J.Scheffel Memorial Toy Project. We also provide dozens of Comfort quilts to local nursing homes for the residents who use wheelchairs. Our newest addition is Lansing Area Hospice. Our members provide quilts for children and adults who are in hospice care. We provide members with resources where the information needed for our charitable works. Click on any link below for more information on these organizations.

LANSING AREA HOSPICE: Through the Sparrow and McClaren Health Systems, quilts are provided for children and adults who are in hospice. The LAP Service Project Coordinator collects and delivers the quilts to Sticks and Strings yarn shop. A representative from Hospice will collect the quilts and distribute them as needed to their patients.

R.J. SCHEFFEL MEMORIAL TOY PROJECT: This is a local charity that provides toys for disadvantaged and "in crisis" at Christmas. LAP provides doll quilts for the doll beds that local volunteers make throughout the year. This organization has been in the Lansing Area for many years and provides for hundreds of children.

HAVEN HOUSE: Haven House provides emergency housing and support services for one-parent and two-parent families with children. The shelter helps families who are homeless prepare for permanent housing by developing and promoting self-sufficiency, stability and financial responsibility.
