Funky Chicken

Fabric Needed - This block can be make from your stash / scraps
Chicken body - 5.5 x 6.5 inch rectangle
                           2 x 2 inch square
Background - Three 2 x 2 inch squares
                         6.5 x 2 inch rectangle
                         5.5 x 2 inch rectangle
Beak - 1.25 x 1.25 inch square
Comb - Two 2 X 2.5 inches rectangles
 
Draw diagonal lines on the four square pieces. Lay out as in photo # 2 and stitch. Trim leaving a 1/4 inch seam and press toward the darker color.

Draw a comb shape on one of the comb pieces. Place the two pieces WRONG sides together. Sew together using a 1.5 stitch length. Trim very closely to your stitching. Pin the comb so that the bottom edge lines up with the bottom edge of the upper left rectangle and is about 1/4 inch from the right edge.
Sew the left two pieces and the right two pieces together. Press the two seams in opposite directions so they will nest.

Sew the right and left side together . Press seam and you are done. You have an adorable chicken.
